”Cat got your tongue?”の意味は何？
“Cat got your tongue?”の直訳は「猫に舌を捕まえられたの?」という意味になりますが、この場合の意味は「何も言えないの?」となります。昔からこのように使うので由来はわかりません！でも、今も映画とかよく使いますから、聞いてみてください。
どんな場合使うの?
“Cat got your tongue?”を使う時に気をつけるポイントがあります!普段も使えますが、一番多いのは喧嘩しているときです。そして、気が付かずに相手を怒らせてしうこともあるので、注意が必要です。
びっくりする場合の例：
I got you the jacket you wanted!
(欲しがったジャケットを買ってあげたよ!)
!!!
Cat got your tongue? (You’re surprised, right?)
(何も言えないの？（びっくりしたでしょう？）)
心配している場合の例：
You haven’t talked to me all day. What’s the matter? Cat got your tongue?
「今日ずっと話さなかった。どうしたんの？何で何も言わない?」
喧嘩している場合の例：
Where were you last night?
(昨日の夜、どこに行った?)
I had to work overtime.
(残業していた。)

どうしたの？ 何も言えないの？
喧嘩をしていて相手が何も言えなくて黙り込んでしまったときに、” Cat got your tongue?”と言ったら、とても強く聞こえます！
上の例で” What’s the matter?”を入れましたが、それぞれの意味がもっと強くなります。

What is the meaning of ”Cat got your tongue?”？
Cat got your tongue?” literally means, “Did a cat take your tongue,” but the real meaning is, “Are you unable to speak?” This saying has been used since a long time ago so no one knows the real origin! You still hear it a lot though.
When can you use it?
Please be careful when using, “Cat got your tongue!” You can use it in regular situations, but the most common time is when you are fighting. If you use it, you may make the other person angry without realizing it.
Example for surpise：
A: I got you the jacket you wanted!
B: !!!
A: Cat got your tongue? (You’re surprised, right?)
